On October 31, 1860, Juliette Gordon Low was born in Savannah, Georgia. Nicknamed 'Daisy', she belonged to an affluent family which enabled her to travel and receive varied education. Her vivacious nature and adventurous spirit were evident early on, traits that would serve her well as she later founded the Girl Scouts of the USA, an organization that has since empowered millions of young girls through leadership development and community service.
