Vital Voices Global Partnership presents Nadia Murad with its Global Trailblazer Award for her survivor-led advocacy.
On 5 March 2020, Nadia Murad was honored with the Global Trailblazer Award by Vital Voices Global Partnership. The award recognizes women who have broken new ground in human rights, economic opportunity, or political participation and whose leadership inspires others worldwide.
Murad’s selection acknowledged her pioneering role in survivor‑led advocacy to end sexual violence as a weapon of war and to secure justice and reparations for genocide survivors. Through her organization, Nadia’s Initiative, she has worked to rebuild Yazidi communities in Sinjar and to promote survivor‑centered approaches in international policy.
