First woman full professor of engineering at Purdue University

Lillian Gilbreth was appointed as the first woman full professor of engineering at Purdue University on September 9, 1935. Joining the School of Mechanical Engineering as a professor of management, she broke through significant gender barriers prevalent within academic institutions of the time. Her position at Purdue not only showcased her expertise and accomplishments in the field but also paved the way for future generations of women in academia and engineering, expanding the possibilities for female engineers across the United States.
