In October 1915, while residing in South Carolina, Georgia O'Keeffe began creating a series of abstract charcoal drawings that marked a significant departure from traditional realism. These works explored bold forms and emotive lines, capturing the attention of her friend Anita Pollitzer, who showed them to photographer Alfred Stieglitz.
