Ève Curie

Ève Curie was born on December 6, 1904, in Paris, France. She had a special family because her mom and dad, Marie and Pierre Curie, were famous scientists. They even won a big prize called the Nobel Prize. Her big sister Irène liked science too, but Ève loved the arts.

When Ève was growing up, she was lucky to meet many smart scientists. She went to school in Paris where she learned a lot about music and writing. These subjects became her favorites. Her parents taught her to value learning and to care about helping people.

At first, Ève wanted to make music, but later, she became really good at writing. She wrote an important book about her mom called “Madame Curie” in 1937. People loved her book, and it helped them learn about Marie Curie's life.

Ève didn't just write books. During a big war called World War II, she was a special kind of writer called a war correspondent. This means she wrote stories about the war. Her book “Journey Among Warriors” tells about her experiences during the war.

Because she was such a great writer, Ève won many awards. One of the big awards she won was the National Book Award for Non-Fiction in 1940. She was also respected in many countries for her writing and her work helping people.

In 1954, Ève married an American man named Henry Labouisse. He worked for UNICEF, a group that helps children all over the world. Together, they traveled and worked in many places.

Even when she got older, Ève stayed busy. She lived in New York and Paris. She helped a lot of people and stayed interested in new things. Ève died peacefully on October 22, 2007, at the age of 102. She is remembered for her smart ideas and her kind heart.
